2023年5月13日，贵州榕江（三宝侗寨）和美乡村足球超级联赛正式开幕。联赛由榕江县足球协会主办，由榕江县三宝侗学会承办，球队经费由村民自筹，政府退居幕后做服务支撑、安全保障。参赛者以村民为主，场内队员激烈比拼，球赛间隙有丰富的民族文化表演，现场热血沸腾，场外观众热情高涨，牛、猪、羊等比赛奖品极接地气，富有乡村气息。如此新颖的乡村足球联赛被广大网友亲切称为“村超”。在两个半月时间内，榕江县的20支村队、近600名草根球员，用98场足球赛，创造了全网350亿人次的浏览量，引发国内外大批知名媒体和人士的关注、点赞，实现了真正的出圈。
